The PDC thermal flywheel for Cordivari heat pumps is a device with a dual function: that of inertial storage and that of hydraulic separator.

As a storage tank, it is used in heat pump systems to reduce machine start-ups thanks to the storage of technical water inside it which is always available for starting the system. The presence of the thermal flywheel therefore optimizes the performance of the heat pump, which is able to work for longer at a constant load, and also extends its useful life because it avoids frequent switching on and off.

As a hydraulic separator, however, the flywheel serves to make the flow rates of the heat pump independent of those of the heating/refrigeration terminals.

Designed to be installed on the wall, the Cordivari hanging PDC flywheel is made of carbon steel with an external gray PVC coating. The insulation is instead in rigid polyurethane foam with high thermal insulation.

The thermal flywheel is installed between the heat pump and the distribution system. The size of the storage tank is to be chosen based on the power of the heat pump and the characteristics of the system.

The one proposed here has a capacity of 25 litres.
